How Does Get R.E.A.L. Work?

Get R.E.A.L. breaks down the writing/communication process into four basic steps that will help your team gain confidence and build rapport.

R = Role Most experts say communication begins with knowing your audience. But that's counterintuitive and counterproductive. Step one should actually begin with you because you need to understand where you're coming from first. During this segment, you'll explore which roles work best for you. You'll also learn about that one special role that will help you gain others' trust while boosting your confidence. E = Energy Moods affect communication. If you're unsettled while writing an email, no amount of "sugar" sprinkled over your words will hide a negative state of mind. This segment will show you how to mindfully identify the purpose of a message and adjust your intentions before communicating. A = Audience Work often keeps us so busy that we forget to properly prepare recipients to accept our ideas. Instead, we blast off emails or just launch conversations prematurely. Effectively preparing our messages includes understanding others' perspectives and roles. This portion will provide your team with some simple strategies to help them target and personalize messages. L = Language We're finally down to the nitty-gritty. Using language effectively involves knowing how certain words, points of view, or sentence patterns engage and persuade others. This final piece of the workshop provides your team with practical language tools and "magic" phrases they can use immediately.

I signed up my team of Truckee Fire Battalion Chiefs for a basic half-day writing workshop, but we were left with vastly more. Christina has a calm and personal method of teaching that truly connected with us and inspired us to think more about how we write and how we communicate, overall. She provided us with tools that specifically addressed our needs and goals. Her instruction took us from drafting a simple email subject title to writing with purpose and awareness of audience. After the workshop, we were able to to improve our emails immediately. What Christina covered has already changed how we communicate with each other and our community at large, and I am convinced her offerings apply to many other organizations. I am a creative. I jump into the deep waters of visual content every chance I get. My superpower is my ability to adapt, float and paddle. My kryptonite is business communication. She has narrowed that wide chasm of business communication for me. -- Trina Gold, Big Water Content Innovation

Through Tahoe Mountain Realty, we hired Simply Worded and Christina to facilitate a day-long seminar focused on enhancing communication skills for our team of agents. Christina Nemec- Founder

After working for 20 years as an English professor, Christina began noticing a tremendous decline in her students' communication and writing skills. Submissions grew shorter and shorter. Sentences were jumbled, fragmented, and riddled with errors. Emojis populated their emails.

She soon identified the same troubling patterns in her interactions with business professionals and their teams. She noticed poorly written emails, blogs, and website copy. She wondered if we were all writing too much too fast. Did we not care anymore? Was education failing us?

In the end, Christina decided none of that mattered. The important thing was to solve the problem. Simply Worded was born out of the desire to help business professionals do more than write adequately through run-of-the-mill business writing exercises. Instead, Christina decided to rely on her knowledge of proven literary techniques to bridge the gap between creative writing and business writing. Today, Christina's mission is to help those in business communicate with added clarity, elegance, and power.
